CannaLog is a grow journal app, on Android first with iOS to follow. Feeds, waterings, training, clones and stage changes are recorded against individual plants, with the time they happened — from a single tent up to a full facility.

How it works

Everything is a timestamped entry.

There's no free-text diary. Each action has its own type and fields, and is attached to the plants it applies to. A typical day looks like this.

Plant actions

Nine things you can log on a plant.

Each one is its own kind of entry with its own fields, rather than a note you write yourself. That's what makes a journal you can actually read back and compare across grows.

Structure

Environments, and zones when you want them.

An environment is any space with its own conditions — a tent, a room, a greenhouse — and carries its own light schedule, reservoirs and log. Plants sit in an environment. Zones are optional: add them when part of a space needs its own grouping, and put plants in a zone or leave them at environment level.

Both are valid. A zone is a grouping you add when you want one, not a step you have to pass through.

A zone inherits its environment's settings unless overridden. A plant with no zone simply answers to the environment.

Irrigation

Scheduled cycles are confirmed, not assumed.

CannaLog has no sensors in your grow, so it can't know whether a pump actually ran. When a scheduled slot fires it asks. Confirming writes a watering entry for every plant on that reservoir; until then, nothing is recorded.

Lineage

Every clone is linked to its mother.

Cuttings are named automatically — C1, C2, C3 — continuing the numbering from previous batches, and each one starts in the Rooting stage. A plant's family tree lists its mother and every clone taken from it, and each entry opens that plant.

Clones given away are noted on the mother's journal without creating plants.

Batch actions

One form for a whole environment

Feed, train or move every plant in an environment in a single action, with all of them selected by default and exceptions deselected. A batch move also reassigns the plants to their new environment or zone.

Bulk import

Start with the grow you already have

Import a whole set of plants from a CSV rather than adding them one at a time. A template with the expected columns and an example row can be downloaded from inside the app.

Feeds recorded by method

Water only, nutrients in water, or a dry top dress — the method chosen determines which fields appear. Leaving the amount blank still records the watering, marked as not measured.
